This report analyses the performance and strategy of Tavex Algodonera, Spain's biggest textile manufacturer and the largest producer of denim fabric in Europe. Tavex has achieved impressive growth in net revenue and net earnings by focusing mostly on the domestic and European denim markets. Over time, the company has expanded its manufacturing base to meet rising demand for its products and now boasts facilities on three different continents- Africa, America and Europe. One of Tavex's main objectives has been to enhance its penetration of the lucrative North American market for denim clothing. To this end, the company set up a subsidiary in Mexico in May 2002 to commercialise and distribute fabric from its Moroccan and Spanish facilities. In October 2002 Tavex established a manufacturing presence in Mexico with its acquisition of Industrial Textil de Puebla. Looking ahead, the company is expected to focus on product diversification into home and technical textiles and to further enhance its presence in overseas markets during 2004-2006
